Trombonist David Rejano Cantero was born in Badajoz (Spain) and studied music at the Madrid Conservatory. He then moved to the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris, with Professor Gilles Millière, where he graduated with the Diploma de Formation Supérieur with a mention ”très bien à la unanimité” and awarded the “Prix Spécial du Jury”. He has joined as main trombone in Los Angeles Philharmonic this month.

As a student, David Rejano Cantero was a member of several youth orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the Youth Orchestra of the European Union and the Western-Oriental Divan Orchestra, with Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez.

He has been presented as a guest start Trombone with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin, the National Orchestra of France, the Orchestra of the Opera of Paris and the Symphonieorchester December Bayerischen Rundfunks under the direction of directors such as Kurt Masur, Valéry Gergiev, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim and Andris Nelsons.

From 2002 to 2007 David Rejano Cantero was main trombone with the Symphonic Orchestra of Navarra, from 2007 to 2010 main trombone with the Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and from 2010 to 2016 main trombone with the Münchner Philharmonic.

David is a very active teacher, giving lectures and training youth orchestras. He has taught master classes all over the world, including Japan, France, Germany, South Korea, Austria, China and Guatemala.

Rejano often appears as a soloist and teacher at different festivals, such as the “Concours National de Trombone de France”, the “Festival Européen du Trombone” (Strasbourg), the “Sapporo Festival”, the “Summer Brass Festival” and the “International Trombone Festival”.
